So I thought I would share a bit about myself for the first blog for this summer course. Since we are such a small group and won't be meeting face to face, I thought it would be nice to share a bit about ourselves first.
So that is my partner Dan, our dog Sydney, and myself in the photo above. We were canoe/camping off the coast around Blue Hill when this photo was taken. I am not from Maine but have definitely fallen in love with it and consider it to be my new "home". I am originally from Ohio where I completed my bachelor's in Middle Level Education. I then moved to South Carolina where I taught 6th grade science. I loved teaching, but was ready to go back to school full time to get my master's. I stumbled across the University of Maine and their Higher Education program so we relocated up to Maine to work on grad school full time. After I finished up my grad program, I started working at the university full time in the college of ed advising first and second year students. I really love my job but do miss teaching. I am currently pursuing a CAS in middle level education. I have found it has allowed me to stay "in tune" with what is current in K-12 education.
