In my researching for my report on Charter Schools I have found a great article that argues the compelling points supporting charter schools in the recent popular documentary "Waiting for Superman". Diane Ravitch writes the article The Myth of Charter Schools. I have still not been able to see the movie, but from reading everything about it along with reading up on charter schools, she sheds light on some of some of the truth? behind charter schools.
But after reading her article along with the many articles that support charters, its hard to look at it all and decide on who is really right. This report I am doing is becoming more frustrating. I have never written a report on a topic that is so controversial. As soon as I read an article that has me supporting charters, I come across something like this that makes me believe they are evil.
I suggest reading through this article when you get a chance. She does a great job of destroying some of the "factual" information that is present in the documentary as well as summarizing the film.
